It's raining in Cairo

Lightning, thunder, water actually coming down from the sky, the whole works.

Alhamdulillah.

I promise this isn't turning into a weather blog. Really.

Getting Cooler

The temperature is finally getting cooler. We are actually beginning to see the weather that I had expected from a "desert" environment like Egypt: hot days, cold nights. The nights are now going to be around 20C (60F) and the days around 30C (85F). After months of temperatures never dipping below 25C (77F), the temperature right now seems positively chilly. And I've been told that Egypt is terrible when it comes to heating, so as the temperature drops I can expect to get pretty cold.

Well, I can hear the morning prayers, which means I should be going to sleep (or should have gone to sleep hours ago, actually). Today I had the day off thanks to Eid. Tomorrow I start up once again in Arabic.

Fame and Fortune, and you don't care

Okay, this is going to be meaningless for around 80% of the people who read this blog, but this post of mine actually made it to the sidebar of MetaFilter:
This is kind of a big deal for me, which maybe tells you how sad my life is. One day a real update, I promise.
